The Law and the Christ, or Law and Christ, are thought of as two powers. The one brings down perdition and the curse on man because of his sin; it is called Law. The other brings salvation to man in the midst of perdition; it is a person and bears the name of Jesus the Saviour. The power of Jesus as Saviour, in contrast to the power of perdition called Law, is given the name of Christos or Messiah (a title for the Anointed One).
