17 And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, 18 \u201cSee, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death 19 and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.\u201d <\/p>\n
20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something. 21 And he said to her, \u201cWhat do you want?\u201d She said to him, \u201cSay that these two sons of mine are to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.\u201d 22 Jesus answered, \u201cYou do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am to drink?\u201d They said to him, \u201cWe are able.\u201d 23 He said to them, \u201cYou will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.\u201d 24 And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to him and said, \u201cYou know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, 28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.\u201d <\/p>\n
29 And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him. 30 And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, \u201cLord, have mercy on us, Son of David!\u201d 31 The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, \u201cLord, have mercy on us, Son of David!\u201d 32 And stopping, Jesus called them and said, \u201cWhat do you want me to do for you?\u201d 33 They said to him, \u201cLord, let our eyes be opened.\u201d 34 And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him. <\/p>\n
21:1 Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, \u201cGo into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, \u2018The Lord needs them,\u2019 and he will send them at once.\u201d 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
\n 5 \u201cSay to the daughter of Zion,
\n \u2018Behold, your king is coming to you,
\n humble, and mounted on a donkey,
\n on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.\u2019\u00c2\u00a0\u201d
\n 6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. 8 Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, \u201cHosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!\u201d 10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, \u201cWho is this?\u201d 11 And the crowds said, \u201cThis is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.\u201d <\/p>\n
