{"id":2819,"date":"2007-12-17T22:14:56","date_gmt":"2007-12-18T03:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.purposedriven.ca\/wiki\/eng\/galatians-69"},"modified":"2010-11-13T16:38:22","modified_gmt":"2010-11-13T20:38:22","slug":"galatians-69","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/purposedriven.ca\/wiki\/2007\/12\/17\/galatians-69\/","title":{"rendered":"Galatians 6:9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.<\/p>\n<p>Galatians 6:9, New International Version<\/p>\n<p>NOVEMBER 12, 2010 &#8211; THE NEW BIBLE COMMENTARY<br \/>\nPAGE 1012, 1013<\/p>\n<p>SOWING AND REAPING (GALATIANS 6:6-10)<\/p>\n<p>Taught &#8211; The Greek word is that from which come our words &#8216;catechize&#8217; and &#8216;catechism&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The reference is of oral teaching.<\/p>\n<p>Paul is regarded as exhorting Christians to give liberally for the financial support of their teachers.<\/p>\n<p>A believer must share with his teacher in every good work.<\/p>\n<p>The laws of God cannot be trifled with; He will not alter them for our benefit.<\/p>\n<p>What a man reaps is the inevitable result of what he sows (2 Cor 5:10)<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;glory and honour and  immrtality&#8217; &#8211; &#8216;incorruption&#8217; (1 Tim 6:19)<\/p>\n<p>Let us not be weary in well doing.  The same exhortation is found in (2 Thes 3:13).  The verb suggests the idea of fainting, losing heart; it is translated &#8216;faint&#8217; in (Luke 18:1)  (2 Cor 4:1) (2 Cor 4:16) (Eph 3:13)<\/p>\n<p>In due season; i.e. at the appropriate season for reaping, not earlier.<\/p>\n<p>It seems to describe here the moral and spiritual collapse that may be caused by apparent lack of results in Christian work<\/p>\n<p>There is one season for sowing, another for reaping: what matters now is that we should sow lavishly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
