In medicine,\u00a0<b><a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Genetic susceptibility\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genetic_susceptibility\">genetic susceptibility<\/a><\/b>\u00a0to a\u00a0<a title=\"Disease\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Disease\">disease<\/a>\u00a0refers to a genetic predisposition to a health problem,<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genetic_predisposition#cite_note-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0which may eventually be triggered by particular environmental or lifestyle factors, such as\u00a0<a title=\"Tobacco smoking\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tobacco_smoking\">tobacco smoking<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a title=\"Dieting\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dieting\">diet<\/a>.\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Genetic test\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genetic_test\">Genetic testing<\/a>\u00a0is able to identify individuals who are genetically predisposed to certain diseases.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Behavior\" class=\"mw-headline\">Behavior<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a title=\"Instinct\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Instinct\">Predisposition<\/a>\u00a0is the capacity we are born with to learn things such as language and concept of self. Negative environmental influences may block the predisposition (ability) we have to do some things.\u00a0<a title=\"Ethology\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ethology\">Behaviors<\/a>\u00a0displayed by animals can be influenced by genetic predispositions. Genetic predisposition towards certain human behaviors is\u00a0<a title=\"Ethology\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ethology\">scientifically investigated<\/a>\u00a0by attempts to identify patterns of human behavior that seem to be invariant over long periods of time and in very different cultures.<\/p>\n<p>For example, philosopher\u00a0<a title=\"Daniel Dennett\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Daniel_Dennett\">Daniel Dennett<\/a>\u00a0has proposed that humans are genetically predisposed to have a\u00a0<a title=\"Theory of mind\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theory_of_mind\">theory of mind<\/a>\u00a0because there has been\u00a0<a title=\"Evolution\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Evolution\">evolutionary<\/a>\u00a0selection for the human ability to adopt the\u00a0<a title=\"Intentional stance\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Intentional_stance\">intentional stance<\/a>.<sup id=\"ref_stance\" class=\"reference plainlinks nourlexpansion\"><a class=\"external autonumber\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genetic_predisposition#endnote_stance\">[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0The\u00a0<i>intentional stance<\/i>\u00a0is a useful behavioral strategy by which humans assume that others have\u00a0<a title=\"Mind\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mind\">minds<\/a>\u00a0like their own.
