{"id":4262,"date":"2009-03-22T21:04:40","date_gmt":"2009-03-23T01:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/april2009\/?p=57"},"modified":"2011-07-11T08:54:34","modified_gmt":"2011-07-11T12:54:34","slug":"the-overmastering-direction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/purposedriven.ca\/wiki\/2009\/03\/22\/the-overmastering-direction\/","title":{"rendered":"THE OVERMASTERING DIRECTION"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>I have appeared unto thee for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p>     &#8212; Acts 26:16<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The vision Paul had on the road to Damascus was no passing emotion,<br \/>\nbut a vision that had very clear and emphatic directions for him, and<br \/>\nhe says, &#8220;I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.&#8221; Our Lord<br \/>\nsaid, in effect, to Paul &#8211; Your whole life is to be overmastered by<br \/>\nMe; you are to have no end, no aim, and no purpose but Mine. &#8220;I have<br \/>\nchosen him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When we are born again we all have visions, if we are spiritual at<br \/>\nall, of what Jesus wants us to be, and the great thing is to learn<br \/>\nnot to be disobedient to the vision, not to say that it cannot be<br \/>\nattained. It is not sufficient to know that God has redeemed the<br \/>\nworld, and to know that the Holy Spirit can make all that Jesus did<br \/>\neffectual in me; I must have the basis of a personal relationship to<br \/>\nHim. Paul was not given a message or a doctrine to proclaim, he was<br \/>\nbrought into a vivid, personal, overmastering relationship to Jesus<br \/>\nChrist. Verse 16 is immensely commanding &#8211; &#8220;to make thee a minister<br \/>\nand a witness.&#8221; There is nothing there apart from the personal<br \/>\nrelationship. Paul was devoted to a Person not to a cause.
