Among the Hymns in the following collection will
\nbe found many which are not of the conmionly
\nrecognized metres. Some of these are already set
\nto music of their own. Others can readily be
\nadapted by the choir-leader to the simple chants
\nwhich are now generally found in our collections of
\nSacred Music. <\/p>\n
An asterisk prefixed to the author’s name indi-
\ncates that some change has been made in the hymn
\nby the present compilers. <\/p>\n
The titles of the Supplementary Hymns in the
\npresent edition have been introduced udthin the
\noriginal table of contents, instead of forming a sep-
